Bait Casting Reel

Is there anyone who can tell me which of these Abu Garcia Bait Casting reels is better out of the lot…

1. Abu Garcia CB 6600

2. Abu Garcia C4 6600

3. Abu Garcia C5 6600

And if you dont mind let me know why it would be the one you selected, it would greatly help me in buying one of the three….

The C5 would be my choice, it has more bearings that keep the spool and drive gear in proper alignment. This will allow for longer more consistent cast and hold up better over the life of the reel. With proper yearly service this reel will last a lifetime.

The C4 is also very solid. The CB uses bushing instead of bearings and are not as smooth.

If you don't need that much line the 5600 holds a good bit of line but is narrower and lighter making it more comfortable for a day of fishing.

These reels hold up well in saltwater also.

Just got a BlackMax w/ cabelas rod, took it out to the back yard with a dummy lure and I can't seem to cast with out backlash, really bad too. Never had one before.

bait casters take a little pratice. most have ajustments for spool tension. less easier spool spins. u need to also learn to thumb the spool when casting

ok, so i've been a spinning reel fan for years, I'd like to try a good bait casting reel, i fish primarily for bass and i'd like to keep it under the $250.00 range so who makes a good one to start with and learn the tricks with?

If you can spend up to $250, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Shimano Curado 200 for about $169.00. The Variable Braking System allows anyone to learn baitcasting while keeping backlashes to a minimum. I would match this reel against any $500 reel made today. I own three Curados, an Abu Garcia Revo, and two Quantum Energy PT baitcasters, and I would trade all the others for one more Curado. Invest in your equipment and your learning curve will be alot faster.
